Micro-Political Leadership The school executive will build systems and relationships that utilize the staff’s diversity, encourage constructive ideological conflict in order to leverage staff expertise, power and influence to realize the school’s vision for success. The executive will also creatively employ an awareness of staff members’ professional needs, issues, and interests to build social cohesion and to facilitate distributed governance and shared decision-making.
Standard Seven: Micro-Political Leadership
An effective school leader immediately recognizes that while the business of education is vital and timely, one person cannot do it all. Therefore, it is essential for me as an administrator to cultivate relationships with staff, other leaders, community partners and even students so that the business of education becomes a collaborative effort of all.

My MSA coursework and training(s) have better equipped me for staff delegation and micro-political leadership in my building. The artifacts above are reflections and thoughts on Covey's theories and how they relate to my work at school.
Even during school visits (above), successful building leaders discussed and demonstrated how the tenets of micro-political leadership can be accomplished.
At both of my Residency schools this semester, we utilized our admin meetings to determine how we would leverage staff expertise to maximize the work of the school. Admin meetings were strategy sessions in micro-political leadership. the artifacts below are examples of how this standard was executed.
